Kundalini Yoga:
Kundalini Yoga places significant emphasis on specific breathing techniques combined with postures and movements. Breathing brings life force energy (or prana) into the body. When a person’s breath is shallow, they become out of balance both mentally and physically. Symptoms such as anxiety, irritability, mind chatter, and fatigue are all created when the life force energy of the body is not properly harnessed and directed.  The techniques of Kundalini Yoga train the consciousness how to work with energy and breath so that Life Force Energy can be properly harnessed and directed.   Kundalini Yoga also combines mudras (hand positions) that balance the body’s energy along with postures, Kriyas (movements) and meditations. Combining all these aspects leads to very powerful results which are listed below.

Practicing Kundalini Yoga can bring about any and all of the following:

-Increased energy

-Increased ability to breathe deeply

-A better ability to direct where your life is going and reach your goals

-A stronger and healthier physical body

-Increased flexibility (both physically and in life!)

-Balanced hormones (K.Y. is known to balance the secretion of the glands)

-A peaceful and radiant presence

-Clearing of subconscious blockages (un-serving emotions or thoughts)

-Greater awareness of your True Self

-Opening and clearing of the Chakras

Physical Requirements to Practice Kundalini Yoga
The techniques of Kundalini Yoga can be practiced by anyone. The specific sets taught by Dr. Michelle Hebert are beginner level.  Even with moderate level techniques, there are still modifications that allow for the student to have a powerful energetic experience in a way that is safe and healthy for the body.  Students starting Kundalini Yoga generally have had a wide range of Yoga experiences;  some of are brand new to Yoga, and others had been practicing other forms of Yoga for years.  Overall, beginning level Kundalini Yoga is perfect for both beginners and those persons who are ready to advance their current yogic training to the next level.

More about Kundalini Yoga:

Kundalini Yoga is known as the Yoga of Awareness.  Yoga means to "yoke" or to unify, more specifically unifying your individual field of consciousness with universal consciousness (God).   Kundalini Yoga is an ancient technology which originally was reserved for kings, royalty, and spiritual leaders.  These ancient yogic techniques incorporate a series of breathing, postures, mantras and mudras all with the overall purpose of awakening awareness of your infinite nature.  The result is an experience which powerfully awakens the memory of your infinite nature as the body, mind and soul are completely balanced.

The specific type of Kundalini Yoga that will be taught is what Yogi Bhajan, Master of Kundalini taught when he brought the techniques of this ancient technology from the East to the West.  The following passage explains why the secrets of K. Yoga were brought to the West and are being taught to householders:

"By the year 2013, the world population will be seven billion.  The change in technology, psychology, and sociology will be huge.  The chaos of information in the computer age will make it difficult for people to cope with their day-to-day lives.  The body, mind and spirit will have to be organized to meet these natural phenomena.
Every human, no matter to which religion they belong, will face a reality in the future where they will need a strong, healthy nervous system.  They will need mental clarity and the back-up of spiritual strength to face this coming world.  We can say with confidence, the only way to do this is through yogic techniques by which body, mind and spirit can be enhanced.
To sustain themselves, tomorrow's individuals must have yogic training.  It is a need of our times.  By 2013, forty to sixty percent of the population will be practicing yoga.  People will see that those who practice yoga are bright, beautiful, calm and blissful."      -Yogi Bhajan, April 1999
